Want to take a friend, lover or yourself on a date in Tartu? We got you covered!
Every film night and afternoon at Tartuff is always a treat in itself, but there's plenty more to do in Tartu between 4 and 4 August.
Here are our five suggestions.
Just a stone's throw from Town Hall Square, the Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum will take you on a healthy walk through the Old Town during “Tartu Sumin”, shedding light on important events, buildings and places that have played an important role in shaping Estonian sports culture. If there's nothing to talk about with your date, you can at least listen quietly to the guide!
Why not start the meeting backwards and take your clothes off first? The Emajõgi and the Anne canal are both good for a swim, but if that seems too stressful, here's another idea. Kvartal, a long-time partner of Tartuff, is home to a spa and sauna centre where you can relax and share your innermost and interesting secrets.
Tartu's summer riviera fantasy reaches its absolute peak during the Tartuff weekend, when new and exciting flavours from the food and wine festival take over the city — just let them carry you. For those with an eye for Asian cuisine, be sure to pop by the new restaurant Paper Tiger, which offers snacks to share as well as mains you would rather keep all to yourself.
Another stone's throw away from the town hall square is Tartuff's partner Kivi bar. This year we can dance the night away at the legendary Ans. Andur's live concert on August 8. Of course, there's no shortage of ping pong tournaments, keep an eye out for events here!
Sometimes we need time to ourselves, away from the noise and people. Get cosy under a blanket, read a book or watch your favourite TV show. The main thing is not to get too lost in yourself in the grand scheme of things and to remember that closeness and love can be he things that make life worth living. When you're ready to come out, know that Tartuff is waiting.
The 20th Tartu Love Film Festival Tartuff takes place from August 4-9 in Tartu Town Hall Square and Tartu Elektriteater.
