In his second feature film, director Igor Šeregi brilliantly employs slapstick and deadpan humour to satirise the political, religious, cultural, economic, and historical tensions between Croatia and Serbia.

Like many young women studying in London, Croatian student Ana falls deeply in love. She is now six months pregnant and engaged to her sweetheart, Nebojša. Ana decides that the perfect moment to reveal her long-kept secret to her family is at the 50th birthday party of her father, Miljenko – a highly influential Croatian businessman. Little does anyone expect that Ana’s fiancé is actually… Serbian.

You can only imagine the reactions Nebojša receives when he calls home. His father is a minister in Serbia, Vuk (played by Serbian acting legend Dragan Bjelogrlić, director of PÖFF 2023’s opening film “Guardians of the Formula”). What follows is a modern, seemingly impossible love story akin to “Romeo and Juliet”, where the couple must somehow unite their families at the wedding table despite their differences.
