Can you imagine cycling 10,000 kilometres from Delhi to Sweden to reunite with the woman you believe is the love of your life, without a plan or any guarantee of a warm welcome?

In 1977, P.K. Mahanandia, a poor 23-year-old artist, did just that. He met a young Swedish woman by chance – just as an astrologer had predicted when he was a boy. He drew her portrait, she returned home, and soon afterwards he bought a second-hand bicycle and set off to find Lotta.

Although no footage of the original journey exists, fifty years later director, Orlando von Einsiedel, reconstructs the fateful ride through vivid, affectionate reenactments featuring P.K. and Lotta themselves alongside younger actors who bring the couple’s memories to life.

It is one of the most extraordinary love stories ever told. But did this remarkable journey lead to lasting love?
