Two young men, Rene and Emil, are brought together by a desire to gain something from each other’s worlds. Emil, who seems to have been handed everything in life, continues to disappoint his father, pushing everyone’s patience to breaking point. He meets Rene, a drug dealer, who seems to become his role model. Yet Rene tries to steer him away from the mistakes he himself can no longer undo.
“Idiot” was created by young Estonian filmmakers, born out of a desire to tell young people’s stories with honesty and courage. It is a story about people, their vulnerability, love, self-discovery, and the journey that leads them to confront their own fragility and limits.
Made possible through a successful crowdfunding campaign, this 48-minute film is an inspiring watch for young filmmakers and emerging talents alike.
