Arcadia
An unidentified woman dies in a car crash that seems almost deliberate. Heartbroken doctor Yannis (Vangelis Mourikis, Best Actor at Hong Kong IFF) returns to a deserted resort town to identify the victim of this mysterious incident. His wife Katerina (Angeliki Papoulia from "Dogtooth" and "The Lobster") follows him to the remote beach tavern Arcadia, where she incidentally meets a younger love interest, Petros. Her melancholy night wanderings lead her through unforgiving memories and mythical perversions to lustful intercourse and supernatural discoveries. An enigmatic ode to haunting love, it reawakens scattered feelings and a burning desire for sexual pleasure. It is never easy to let go of desire.
The short films of Greek wunderkind Yorgos Zois have screened at Venice, Cannes and over 200 other festivals. His daring debut feature, "Interruption", premiered at Venice's Orizzonti in 2015, and "Arcadia" was selected for competition at Berlin's Encounters earlier this year. It is an atmospheric, captivating and original blend of several genres, accompanied by sonic melodies created on wine glasses.
